Nuthatches have a bluey-grey back, a pale orangey-brown belly and a black stripe going across their eye. Similar to the Treecreeper, Nuthatches are usually found on the branch or trunk of a tree where they often spiral around searching for food.

Spotting Tip

Interestingly, unlike Treecreepers that are only able to go up a tree, Nuthatches are just as good as climbing head-up as head-down. Nuthatches also are very vocal birds and have several interesting calls, such as its loud 'pew-pew-pew' call.
